Equinor has cautioned that the United Kingdom risks becoming "uninvestable" if North Sea projects Jackdaw and Rosebank are blocked. The Norwegian energy company's chief executive raised doubts about whether future investment in the UK could continue if drilling approvals are denied, drawing attention from the BBC, The Times, and the Financial Times.

The warning intensifies scrutiny of UK energy policy at a time when the government is deciding on the future of North Sea development. Blocking the two projects, Equinor made clear, would create real uncertainty about the country's appetite for large-scale energy investment.

Separately, Equinor issued a quarterly update on 7 October 2026 saying its trading profit will come in above expectations for the third quarter. Reuters broke the news ahead of the company's upcoming results announcement.
